Mr Joel Chang started his career at Arthur Andersen & Co. and became one of the first accountants to focus on the China market. This led to him joining BNP Paribas Peregrine in 1997 responsible for M&A, restructuring, and the listing of several major red-chip and state-owned enterprises in Hong Kong. He was appointed as a financial advisor for several China cities and state-owned enterprises, including the HK$1.5b waste treatment Public Private Partnership project for the Shanghai Pudong Government. Mr Chang was also involved in forming the partnership between BNP Paribas Peregrine and Changjiang Securities in China, and was subsequently appointed the first manager of Changjiang BNP Peregrine, one of China’s first joint venture securities companies.
After a brief spell as Chief Investment Officer at Investec Asia, the direct investment arm of Investec Bank (UK), Mr Chang co-founded AID Partners in 2007, securing significant seed capital for AID’s first private equity fund from Mr. Maurice ‘Hank’ Greenberg’s VC Starr. AID went on to raise a series of successful private equity funds with over US$500m invested across various sectors including media & entertainment, food resources, technology, life sciences and finance.
Mr Chang subsequently established Genius Link Group, an investment company to manage his own capital. Over the last decade, Genius Link Group gradually grew into an investment group under the Genius Link brand, raising and investing through various ventures, associates, and affiliates over USD1billion. Having accumulated numerous family office connections over the years and realizing their growing need for tailor-made investment solutions, Mr. Chang established Sieger Capital Holdings Limited, a multi-family offices platform, as a spin-off brand from Genius Link Group in 2019.
Mr. Chang is now Chairman of Sieger Capital. It serves to provide Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (“UHNWI”) and family offices in the Asia-Pacific and MENA regions investment advisory, and wealth and asset management services, whom requires global asset allocation and diversification, and wealth preservation.
Mr. Chang, is currently an independent non-executive Director of OCI International Holdings Limited (stock code: 0329HK), a listed joint venture between CCB International (Holdings) Limited, a subsidiary of China Construction Bank, and China Orient Asset Management Co Ltd, one of the largest asset management companies in China. Since May 2021, Mr. Chang became the major shareholder in Forbes Media China and Forbes Global Alliance, a networking business leveraging on the Forbes brand aim at bringing together the aspired entrepreneurs, investors, and HNWIs in the Greater China Region. Mr. Chang also acted as directors and chief executive roles in various listed companies in Hong Kong and United States during the period 2009 to 2019.
Mr Chang received a BA in Economics from Australia’s Monash University in 1990 and is a CPA member of ASCPA and HKCPA. Mr Chang is 54 and lives in Hong Kong.
